213 - Akan or Asante funerary head

The features of this head are condensed in the lower front part of the head. The cranium is quite large. Small chignons are positioned irregularly on the surface of the head, except on the bottom of the back portion.
The well fashioned ears are placed towards the front, just behind the eyes.
The face is symmetric, as is the traditional Ashanti aesthetic. The eyes are closed; the small nose and mouth are hollowed out. The facial features seem to be partially erased, softened by time. Here again, we are in the presence of a child. It seems quiet, serene, and ready for its destiny...
