Very classical Sokoto piece
With a hieratic rigidity in its attitude and position, this statue classicly Sokoto. It is mainly a frontal representation, with neither ornaments nor scarifications, but with simply-fashioned traits typical of this style (flattened hairstyle, large forehead, flat nose, and mouth slightly open). The ears, nostrils and eyes are hollowed out, and the navel is prominent.
Even in the absence of ornamentation, the statue conveys a stark austerity.
