139 - Head with originally painted portions

Large, life-sized male head, reasonably well conserved. One can barely imagine the size of the whole statue, but, in retrospect, one must be struck by the force and impact of this human representation. The head is ovular, the eyes triangular, the ears and the mouth are pierced. The nose is flat and African looking. The man has large pectoral muscles and probably held an object symbolic of his power (flogging stick, scepter, fly swatter) in his right hand.
On the whole the piece is quite eroded.
